Digital Collage Final

After producing numerous digital collages depicting air pollution, inspired by the work of Alex Williamson, this is my resolved final collage from this series. This collage utilises all of the techniques that i developed in my previous experiments, with the ink having multiple layers and the colour scheme being exhibited throughout. It also combines buildings and people, which as established through my previous experiments, represents how air pollution is prevalent throughout these differing aspects of society.

Resolving Ideas:

From my digital collage, i wanted to incorporate different skills that i had learnt to explore what method of presenting ideas was the most successful for connoting the impacts of air pollution. I used Alex Williamson to create the overall structure and layout of the collage, however i used my skills developed from my research of other artists to create this physical collage, which offers a new perspective on air pollution. Whilst it has the same structure, this physical collage explores how painting and drawing techniques have an impact on the atmosphere of the overall collage.

I created the background using different colours of ink, that i chose based on my work from Supmanee Chaisansuk, which determined these colours to be the most impactful due to their similarities to combustion and its apocalyptic aesthetic. Moreover for the buildings the girl, i experimented with different medias, however i determined that biro would be the most impactful. I experimented with biro as seen from the photo above and i thought that this was ultimately better than graphite since it gives the drawing a a harsher appearance which makes its aesthetic more bleak. Therefore by combining these biro drawings with the ink background, they culminate to form an apocalyptic representation of the  impacts of air pollution on both people and places.
