Landscapes

After researching JMW Turner, i decided to take a series of primary source photos that displayed a range of landscapes in different weather conditions. The reason for taking these photographs was to construct a basis from which i could explore the effects of air pollution on an environment, by painting these landscapes in the style of JMW Turner, so that they would appear to be affected by air pollution. Therefore these pictures were taken as reference that could be used to compare and contrast how an environment would look before and after being afflicted by air pollution. I decided to have a range of landscapes in various countries to insinuate how air pollution is a global issue that affects not one specific environment,  but all of them. I found the photos that were the most useful for depicting air pollution, are the first five photos of this gallery, since the haze created by the mist helped develop an atmosphere similar to that of an area impacted by air pollution, in the form of smoke. The difference however, is mist is a natural feature in the water cycle thats stimulates plant respiration, whilst smoke when produced through the burning of fossil fuels releases toxic particles that don't benefit the natural environment and instead damage it by preventing gas exchange from occurring in plants.
